  • Popis: Feature film is shot on the basis of the script of Vytautas Rimkevičius “A Village of Death”. Village somewhere in Lithuania after Nazi retreat but before the coming of Russians. Farmhouses are burnt and ruined. In a smithy, men discuss how to plow the soil when surroundings of the village are full of landmines. Daughter of teacher Karvelis comes back from hospital. She finds out that her father is shot by Germans. Stankus and his son Povilas live in the school now. Budrys returns from the county’s town. The vacuum of power in village is still going on. Villagers decide to demine the soil in order to work on land. Vytenis makes this. After the demining, villagers celebrate the birth of the son of Laucius’ wife Laima. During the festivity Ignas Laucius is shot dead. After the funeral Dovilė finds the clothes of the killed villagers. People ask Stankus why he has these clothes. Stankus, Povilas and Drimba are imprisoned by villagers, but they escape. Stankus mortally wounds his son Povilas. Without other options, he runs through the minefield and dies exploding. Villagers plow the soil. Herdsman takes off the hat and speaks about scented soil.
