This image from the film alone makes the power relations abundantly clear. Today, Marie is a filmmaker, played by Margarita Broich, and is in the midst of a creative crisis. And somehow this mirrors her entire crisis-ridden life, in which she had to laboriously develop her own identity as a girl and woman against the male domination of her father. In a mix of documentary and feature film elements, the renowned documentary filmmaker Petra Seeger took inspiration from her own experiences. In the film she condenses them into a portrait of the male-dominated 1950s and 1960s using original footage, and introducing various time levels. With a lot of situational humor and emotionally moving, multi-layered self-reflection the film takes its viewer on a journey into the past.
