  • Leírás: Two brothers-in-law and friends from Edessa, Fotis and Stavros, in order to hit the jackpot, think up an unbelievable scheme. Having heard that the buying and selling of foreign banknotes can result in serious profits, they decide to sell dollars on the black market in Bulgaria and then convert the Bulgarian leva into dollars in a bank in Switzerland. They persuade Stavros’ wife, Eleni, to embezzle the money from her boss, who is away on a trip, and so obtain the necessary start-up capital for their plan. Within a week, they have to convert drachmas into dollars, change dollars into leva in Sofia and then change leva back into dollars again in Zurich. Then they will have to return to Edessa and rechange dollars into drachmas, replace the “loaned” money and reap the fruits of their trading. But alas! The result is nowhere near the expected. In the bank in Zurich they realize that they have made a “tragic” mistake in calculating the exhange rates of the currencies, mistaking cents for dollars. It turns out that the boss’s wife, however, liked the whole idea and figured that if it could be implemented without wrong calculations, it could lead to the desired result.
