  • Descrição: Theophilos Chatzimichail (Dimitris Kataleifos), the legendary painter from Lesbos, drops western garb and begins to wear the traditional Greek outfit. He often dresses like the national heroes he paints, while Greece is rapidly discarding the Ottoman elements and turning slowly but steadily towards the West. In this atmosphere Theophilos exists somewhere between legend, history and popular wisdom – a lonely and difficult road. Guided by the light of Greece, he finally reaches a familiar and yet unique ideal, both in his art and in his life.
