The film continues with a panoramic shot of Heerlen and its surroundings: we see several coal mines in rural South Limburg. Heerlen is portrayed as a bustling, dynamic city where modern life is making a quick ascent. Yet its traditional character still remains: the Roman church, a funeral procession, and picturesque vistas in the old centre. The scenic countryside of South Limburg is a prominent feature.
