But one day, a young French woman named Hélène, who is actually fleeing to Holland, seeks refuge with her. Soon an increasingly intimate relationship develops between the women. When German deserter Hermann also seeks refuge at the farm and falls in love with Luise, a dramatic love triangle develops.
